DEFINITION:
Under direction, to perform specific and specialized work at a paraprofessional level, including class schedule development, maintenance, and assistance with publication; liaison between Instruction and other college departments; and to perform other related job duties as assigned. Analyze and problem solve on varying levels of difficulty. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. Assist in the development of the class schedule, utilizing automated class scheduling systems and software
b. Process schedule changes within the Banner student data system
c. Assist with meeting class schedule publication deadlines.  Proofread and audit class schedule information for accuracy and content.
d. Work with deans and administrators to communicate scheduling issues and conflicts.
e. Coordinate the scheduling of classrooms for both regular and large group instruction, as well as use of instructional facilities, under the direction of the appropriate administrator.
f. Assist in communication between Office of Instruction and instructional divisions.
g. Perform clerical duties as necessary to support assignment.
h. Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Knowledge of:
  1. Instructional publications, reports and schedules.
  2. Class scheduling procedures and related software.
  3. Modern office equipment and procedures, including use of computer for commonly used office applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets and data base programs.
  4. English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  5. Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to:
  1. Perform scheduling work of average difficulty.
  2. Effectively utilize computer for office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
  3. Create, edit and maintain documents, spreadsheets and commonly used databases.
  4. Independently perform assigned administrative duties with speed and accuracy
  5. Plan, organize and complete assignments according to existing processes and procedures.
  6. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing in an office environment.
  7. Analyze every day issues and/or problems; implement and communicate solutions to a manager or designee.
  8. Work effectively with people of all levels within the organization.
  9. Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Education and Experience:
  1. Successful completion of at least two years of college-level coursework in related subject areas.
  2. Minimum of two years administrative, technical, or secretarial experience.
  3. Or, any combination of education and experience that would provide the required qualifications.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment is on a part-time, temporary basis and contingent upon verification of employment history, background verification as governed under Education Code requirements, eligibility to work in the United States, and approval by the CCCD Board of Trustees. Assignments are short-term, temporary, and do not offer fringe benefits or pay for holidays or time not worked, and are limited to 28 hours per week or 160 days per fiscal year. The hours of work and effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor. 

This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. Applications are accepted year-round and will remain in the pool for one year. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. Please do not call the Office of Human Resources regarding the status of your application.
