The University of Wisconsin River Falls, a member of the University of Wisconsin System, is located in scenic west central Wisconsin, 30 miles from the multi-cultural, multi-ethnic cities of Minneapolis and St Paul. The Position: 
This is a full-time, nine month, tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics (within the College of Arts & Sciences). Duties include teaching 12 credits per semester, collaboration in probability and statistics curriculum development and research, scholarly publications, grants, campus-wide and departmental service, and academic advising. Opportunities exist for optional summer employment through teaching, research grants and internship supervision. Anticipated appointment date: August 26, 2019 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach undergraduate courses in mathematics and statistics. (70%)

  • Advise mathematics majors and minors, and support students pursuing careers in actuarial science. (10%)

  • Engage in research and scholarly activity in mathematics/mathematics education and/or statistics/statistics education, and supervise undergraduate research and internships. (10%)

  • Provide service to the department, college and university, including collaborating with the Computer Science Department in support of the Data Science Program. (10%)

Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in mathematics, statistics or a closely related field, from an accredited institution. Graduate work must include a strong background in probability and/or statistics. ABD considered, but doctorate must be completed by time of hire.

  • Experience using software tools to support teaching probability and statistics.

  • Evidence of excellence in teaching college level mathematics and/or statistics courses.

  • Evidence of commitment to ongoing professional activity to keep current in the field of probability and statistics.

  • Potential for collaboration in research and curriculum development in applied statistics with faculty from within and outside the department

  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations
