LOCATION: Longview, Texas

REPORTS TO: Chair, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences

SCHEDULE: The position is for nine months, with the possibility of summer school teaching. Classes and other responsibilities are conducted primarily weekdays, but will include some evening classes and independent studies. Attendance will also be required at some evening and weekend events.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 
LeTourneau University seeks an innovative, dynamic, student-focused instructor to join a new and growing program in Communication Studies. Applicants should have the technical expertise, academic training and/or professional experience to provide leadership for this program. Reflecting LeTourneau University's distinction as the Christian polytechnic university, the ideal candidate will lead students in hands-on learning and collaboration with the university and local community. The ability to teach freshman-level Speech courses is a bonus.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An enthusiastic and contagious Christian faith and a commitment to Christian higher education that integrates Christian faith and learning.

  • An earned doctorate or master's degree in communication from a regionally-accredited institution.

  • Documented success in college teaching;

  • Professional experience and/or technical expertise in Communication, Media, or Public Relations;

  • A strong desire and enthusiasm for networking and recruiting in an effort to grow the Communication Studies program.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • The ability to interact effectively and professionally with students, colleagues, and administrators.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and other qualifications. LeTourneau University provides a significant benefit package, which includes medical and life insurance and contribution to a retirement program.
