POSITION: Full-Time, Exempt
LOCATION: Meridian, ID
SALARY: $100,000+ DOE, annually

Northwest Lineman College (NLC) is seeking a results-driven and experienced safety professional to develop a holistic safety strategy and lead the company in the roll-out of effective and compliant safety tactics. This position requires the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization with impact, even when discussing sensitive or unpopular themes. The Director of Environmental Health and Safety will utilize experience with Emergency Response functional exercises, and will practice abstract and analytical reasoning skills to develop trend analysis and implement appropriate action plans. The Director will also be responsible for conducting safety audits and develop and present safety reports, confidently acting as a change agent at a dynamic, rapidly-growing company. Reports to the NLC President. Frequent travel may be required.

What you'll be doing:

  • Collaborate with operations and capital projects team leadership ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local government regulatory safety and environment requirements

  • Monitor safety regulations and communicate changes to leadership

  • Develop and update safety and environment compliance programs

  • Conduct internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of our safety and environmental programs, identify deficiencies, and present solutions

  • Manage and lead all necessary training initiatives

  • Develop and implement a consistent industrial hygiene sampling strategy across the organization

  • Manage and forecast team budget

  • Work with supply chain to manage contractor safety data in NetSuite

  • Analyze safety performance, make recommendations, and drive positive change

  • Participate in project safety meetings as well as significant safety incident investigations and root cause analyses

  • Develop and provide safety reports and effectively explain overall safety performance

  • Manage compliance audits, self-audits, and action item tracking to timely closure

  • Develop and manage safety audits and behavior observations of employee and subcontractor work activities; if gaps are identified, address accordingly

  • The success patterns for this position are:

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, environment, or other related science or engineering program

  • A minimum of eight (8) years' experience working in areas related to safety, health, and/or environment

  • OR an equivalent combination of experience and education
