Job Description:

Research associate/scientist to help support his group with projects focused on developing process and material requirements for the additive manufacturing metal implants for Joint replacement. This includes both Hips and Knees. This person will help outline as well as support these internal processes. This person will be utilized within metals currently but could see projects from other lines. This will also include the 3D printing process internally. This resource will support the characterization for the coating during the 3D printing process and the formatting analysis. This process and procedures are used for regulatory submission and help with the submittal for new implants.

Requirements:

  • Collaboratively solve technical problems and lead investigations within the group. Opportunity to work independently to plan, conduct, and lead sub-projects to meet project team, department and company objectives.

  • Work effectively face-to-face and remotely on cross-functional project teams

  • Present project work to internal stakeholders. Author scientific publications and patents in support of key technologies.

  • Build and grow state-of-the-art knowledge and skills for application to experimental work and projects Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, Physics or related engineering or scientific discipline is required Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: development, processing, characterization and testing of metallic or ceramic materials; surface engineering; coatings and surface modifications * Innate curiosity and a real passion for technology as a life-long learner is required

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required

  • Good understanding of experimental design is required

  • Good hands-on laboratory skills are required

  • Ability to partner effectively is required Ability to assess, interpret and communicate the importance of technical data is required * Good verbal and written communication skills are required
