Austin Community College District (ACC) is an Hispanic-Serving Institution.  ACC currently enrolls approximately 41,500 credit students in each Fall and Spring semester, over half of whom are non-white.  In Fall 2017, ACC's students were 45% White, 36% Latinx, 8% African-American, 5% Asian, <1% Pacific Islander, <1% Native-American, and 4% multiracial.  ACC is committed to serving all students, including gender non-conforming and LGBTQI students.  ACC's designation as an Hispanic-Serving Institution reflects the commitment the college has to supporting our students' educational goals as well as the economic and social well-being of the surrounding communities we serve.

Job Summary


 

To provide instructional support for the department.

PLEASE NOTE:  This is a 12 month position.  For FY19, the hiring pay range for this 50% position is $16,331 to $23,330.

 

Principal Responsibilities and Duties


 

  • Assists with student support programs including tutoring students; may provide feedback to faculty or instructors regarding student progress.  Encourages use of Learning Lab Services.

  • Works on special academic projects.

  • Assists with and attends outreach events and departmental projects as needed.

  • May conduct workshops on professional development topics or subjects for faculty or tutors to enhance their ability to support student success.

  • May plan and organize learning strategies, activities, and aids to serve individual student needs; may work with faculty or instructors to implement those strategies, activities or aids.

  • May assist students in a Learning Lab if related to the discipline; may oversee projects or productions involving activities related to the discipline; may work with students at field locations as it relates to the discipline.

  • May have additional, specific department duties that may be added at time of posting.

 

Technology


 

Experience using standard office software programs and the technology needed to support learning at the college is required.

Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by federal law.
