Job Summary

FMLA & Disability Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the proper administration of leave benefits through auditing, reconciliation, record maintenance, and other reporting functions, ensuring programs are in compliance with government regulations. Will provide customer service and outreach to employees on all matters that are benefit related, to include all benefit programs, leave information, and processes. Responsible for having a clear understanding of the district’s health insurance plan, FMLA, STD, LTD, Military, Retirement and other benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Serves as subject matter expert on Leave of Absence (LOA) and ADA policies
• Coordinates all leave types including FMLA, STD, LTD, Military, state mandate, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and other special leave programs for all faculty and staff until they return to work
• Oversees American Disabilities Act (ADA) and leave of absence (LOA) requests and the process in implementing the leaves, ensures proper compliance with college policies, state and federal regulations
• Creates training guidelines for supervisors and conducts presentations and training to all supervisors, faculty and staff across the District
• Maintain close contact with employees and keep managers informed about expected duration, return to work dates, extensions, etc.
• Gather critical and confidential data as requested (case notes, LOA dates, etc) to support the College in its compliance efforts and defense of legal matters
• Supports and works closely with Employee Relations regarding personnel issues
• Coordinates with payroll department to ensure that pay status and benefit deductions are accurate for employees on leave of absence
• Monitors, reports on and complete all phases of case management support at an expert level with minimal supervision; ensuring issues are coordinated, logged, tracked, and resolved appropriately
• Administers the various leave programs for employees, including generating forms and monitoring of employee leaves, interpreting various regulations and policies as they relate to the employee’s specific situation, processing short-term and/or long-term disability requests
• Maintain knowledge of retirement related laws and/or processes including but not limited to TRS, ORP, Social Security and ERS to assist employees who are unable to return to work
• Uses interpersonal skills, thinks, reasons, and makes sound judgments when working with employees regarding leave of absence, benefits and retirement processes
• Serves as liaison and information resource for faculty and staff, consults with General Counsel and others on problems, and determines final resolution
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned by leadership
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) Institute

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Four (4) years of professional work experience in Human Resource management and/or experience working with FMLA/ADA regulations, policies and procedures

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Human Resources Certification (e.g. PHR, SHRM-CP)

• Working knowledge of employee benefits packages
• Working knowledge of payroll processing and FMLA preferred for Benefits and Compensation
