Job Description Summary
Under the direction of the Executive Director for Public Information, Communications and Media, plans and develops methods and procedures to implement and administer the overall activities of Peralta’s Low-Power FM Community Radio Station. Directs and coordinates achievements of department, program, or project mission, goals, and objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, evaluates and promotes the activities of the Radio Station;
• Assigns and schedules DJ and announcer time slots;
• Maintains a flexible schedule, which may include evening work;
• Prepares and submits project proposals to secure station funding;
• Monitor radio program playlists and logs for accuracy and adherence to Federal Communications Commission laws and station procedures;
• Provides radio program direction to students, contractors, volunteers, community participants and conducts in-service training programs;
• Maintains liaison with students, faculty, contractors, volunteers, public service and nonprofit organizations, the community and others;
• Publicizes and promotes the radio station programming;
• Plans and develops appropriate new programs, technology and equipment;
• Prepares and presents a variety of oral and written reports;
• Maintains equipment, including online, Web-based streaming as well as terrestrial transmission equipment; and
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
1. Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors degree in a related field or one of the social sciences, journalism, broadcasting, media or business, and one year of para-professional or professional experience involving planning, organizing, administering, coordinating, or promoting of radio programs or projects; or any combination of training and/or experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
2. Applicant must have demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college staff, faculty, and students.
• Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedure related to radio stations;
• Radio station and audio/video equipment and/or industry tools;
• Program evaluation techniques and methodology;
• Experience in the California Community College system, college radio or community media; and
• Community agencies and resources and the needs of cultural, ethnic, and other groups within the community.

• Interpret and work within a wide range of applicable Federal laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines;
• Evaluate and make recommendations on improvements to existing activities and operations;
