Bruce S. Goldberg Postdoctoral Fellow - Neurorehabilitation Research Lab
Dr. Lori Quinn, Associate Professor and Director of the Neurorehabilitation Research Lab is recruiting for a postdoctoral scholar to work on the development and implementation of physical activity self-management programs following recent diagnoses of traumatic and non-traumatic neurological diseases and disorders - including Parkinson's disease, Huntington’s disease, multiple sclerosis, dementias and cerebellar ataxias. The postdoctoral scholar will work under the mentorship of Dr. Quinn to develop, implement and evaluate disease-specific physical activity interventions aimed at neuroprotection. The interventions will incorporate exercise as well as self- management approaches to manage these complex neurological diseases and disorders and will include use of wearable devices to evaluate movement impairments and activity levels. The scholar will work along with the faculty, doctoral students and staff in the Neurorehabilitation Research lab, and will have opportunities to be involved in teaching and mentoring in the Motor Learning and Control program in the broad area of kinesiology and movement sciences.
The fellowship includes a $65,000 annual salary, $5,000 for research and relocation and other benefits afforded to full-time professional employees (e.g. health insurance; see here for more details). Appointment is for a twelve-month period, starting in September 1, 2020 and renewable for a second year contingent upon satisfactory progress and notification by January 30, 2021.
Specific Duties:
Lead research on development and implementation of physical activity self management programs in individuals with neurological diseases and disorders
Collaborate with team members, write journal articles, create grant proposals, and present at conferences.
Advise master and doctoral students.
Required:
Doctoral degree (DrPH, EdD, PhD, ScD, etc.) in a kinesiology/movement sciences/physical or occupational therapy with experience in research in physical activity and exercise interventions.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Research experience with human subjects and cultural sensitivity.
Team player.

Experience with statistical analysis.
Experience with grant-writing.
Comfort and desire to work in racially and ethnically diverse communities.
