Responsibilities

The Physics Department seeks applications for a Postdoctoral position in the Florida State University and National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. This position is strongly connected to the Physics Department of Florida State University and the condensed matter science department in National High Magnetic Field Laboratory at Tallahassee.

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically excellent postdoctoral researcher in experimental condensed matter physics and nano-optics focusing on ultra-small & ultra-fast nano-optics investigation of emergent phenomenon in two-dimensional van der Waals materials. The successful candidate is expected to focus their effort on nano-optical imaging/spectroscopy, nano-device characterizations, building and constructing state-of-the-art nano-optical instruments. The position also provides opportunities to taking advantage of the capabilities available at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL) to perform independent research within related topics.

Qualifications

A PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science or other related fields is required.

Demonstrated potential for excellence in conducting cutting-edge research and teamwork is essential.

Preferred

Preferred Experience:

Strong background with two-dimensional van der Waals materials, nano-scale optics and device physics is preferred.

Experiences with low-T & high-B instrument building and constructing, and/or nanoscale device fabrication is a big plus.

Salary Range: $47,659
