Position Highlights |
The Laboratory for Interface Science of Printable Electronic Materials (LISPEM), directed by Professor Erin Ratcliff in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Arizona (ratcliff.faculty.arizona.edu), seeks applicants for two postdoctoral scholars working in the field of printable electronic materials for solar cells and electrochemical cells. Project goals focus on mechanism understanding of interfacial properties of charge transfer across length scales.

Duties & Responsibilities |
- The postdoctoral scholar will be expected to take a leading role in the use and/or development of novel instrumentation to characterize interfaces of printable electronic materials, including metal halide perovskites, organic semiconductors, and colloidal quantum dots.
- Measurements can include steady-state and/or transient photo-spectroscopy approaches and scanning probe approaches.
- Opportunities for photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS,UPS, IPES) and structural measurements using in-house state of the art electron microscopies (i.e. TEM and PEEM).
- Travel to synchrotron-based facilities is available.
- The emphasis of the project is on chemical insight, with connection to device relevance.
- The postdoc is expected to actively participate in the dissemination of research findings through weekly meetings with the PI and other group members, author monthly reports, publish in top journals, and aid in the training of graduate and undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications |
- The candidate must hold a PhD in chemistry, physics, or materials science (or similar field) at the start date.
- Candidates must have demonstrated experience working in a wet lab of materials or chemistry, with a background in surface characterization methods of semiconductor systems.
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate communicating effectively, verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications |
- A strong background in fundamental surface science is highly desired.
- Experience with instrumentation development is highly preferred, including writing Labview and/or data processing scripts.
- The ideal candidate will have a background in printed electronics, such as metal halide perovskite materials and/or organic semiconductors, with a track record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience working with knowledge of charge transport and charge transfer properties is ideal.
- Experience with of laboratory and synchrotron-based photoelectron techniques and/or scanning probe techniques is highly desired.
- Experience with x-ray scattering is desired but not required.
