Division: Administrative Services
Victoria College's Technology Services Department is hiring for a full-time, benefits eligible Client Technologies Technician. This position is responsible for providing repair and technical support for academic and administrative computing utilizing Microsoft Windows Workstation and Server in a networked environment. Provides AV support to faculty, staff and students.
Duties & Responsibilities:
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provides installation and maintenance services for computers, printers, and network hardware at all six campus locations;
  2. Assist users with software problems;
  3. Performs hardware configuration/troubleshooting and Microsoft Operating Systems including Windows 7 and Windows 10;
  4. Provide phone support for students and employees;
  5. Performs basic moving and changing of phones
  6. Performs basic network changes (VLAN assignment)
  7. Inventory maintenance;
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology Services and Systems Administrator.
  9. This position will access student records at times and will follow all FERPA guidelines.
Computer Technician additional specialized duties:
  1. Help manage and maintain VOIP system including unified communication software (Jabber).
  2. Maintain and support point of sales systems (PCAmerican and Touchnet)
  3. Use knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and NTFS permissions when needed
  4. Papercut print control setup/administration
  5. Fourwinds player configuration
Audio Visual (AV) Technician additional specialized duties:
  1. Interactive Videoconferencing monitoring and support;
  2. Classroom presentation/instructional technology needs both on and off campus;
  3. Responsible for the installation of videoconference, presentation, and other AV equipment;
  4. Manages the Videoconferencing and presentation needs of the College;
  5. Provides support for digital/analog AV to faculty, staff, and renters;
  6. Assists with developing and providing training in the use of presentation equipment;
  7. Assists with providing help desk support to students, faculty, staff, and renters, including but not limited to wireless device configuration and connecting to presentation equipment;
  8. Phone system – analog phone line service
  9. AV sound reinforcement and PA system set up
  10. Fourwinds content management
Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree in computer science or A+ certification
  • Two years computer & LAN installation, operation and maintenance experience preferred;
  • College work in computer science, electronics or electronics communication preferred
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills;
  • Capable of training users in applications and computer fundamentals, and writing basic documentation;
  • Must be proficient in hardware configuration/troubleshooting and Microsoft Operating Systems including Windows 7 and Windows 10;
  • Required to work evenings and weekends on rotation as needed
  • Must have current driver’s license
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Some work requires performing tasks up to approximately 20 feet high or more. Therefore, must be able to climb and perform work from a ladder comfortably and safely. Also, must lift 50 pounds, and work in tight places; will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds while loading office supplies and paper. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
