DESCRIPTION

The (RN) Nurse Professional Development Specialist will partner with the current program manager of the ICU Boot Camp and PCU Series programs to expand these programs to include UCSDH East Campus and overall organizational growth. These programs support transition to practice and are required by newly licensed and experienced nurses new to a level of care. The candidate applies extensive knowledge of nursing education, clinical care, and training practices, including simulation, to develop, implement, and evaluate education for nurses in medical/surgical through ICU levels of care. This role will provide leadership to promote standardized clinical training across sites to ensure quality patient outcomes.

To maintain the organization's high retention rate and support the changing needs of the nursing workforce, this position will develop a program aimed at supporting and enculturating experienced nurses transitioning into the organization or to a new level of care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of California.

  • Five (5+) or more years of nurse educator or other relevant experience.

  • Experience coordinating an education/training/orientation program.

  • Experience developing and evaluating nursing education programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced degree in education or professional development.

  • Certified in nursing professional development (NPD-BC) or critical care (CCRN).

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems.

  • Experience with transition to practice programs.

  • Program management experience.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $112,100 - $216,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $53.69 - $103.69

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
