Position Summary:

The Scientist, working title MRI Physicist, works within the UW - Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Radiology in the development, implementation, and validation of novel quantitative MRI methods in the body. The Scientist will work closely with multiple research groups and assist with mentorship of junior researchers.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

PhD in Engineering, Medical Physics, or a related technical field required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

A minimum of three years of postdoctoral research is required. Knowledge of Magnetic Resonance Imaging physics and signal processing is required. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience with MR image acquisition and reconstruction and programming skills in Matlab, Python and/or C++. Preference will be given to candidates with proven expertise in pulse sequence development on GE systems for abdominal imaging. Expertise in spin dynamics, Bloch equation simulations and advanced gradient echo methods is a plus.
Prefix determined by years of relevant work experience. A minimum of seven years' experience required for appointment at the senior level.
A criminal and/or caregiver background check will be conducted.

Additional Information:

Excellent communication and presentation skills are required for interacting with a wide variety of MRI users, including clinicians, technologists, and researchers with backgrounds in physics and engineering.
