The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders ( COMD ) in the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a 12-month Clinical Instructor position beginning June 1, 2021. All applicants must have a Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association ( CCC - SLP ), a current license from the South Carolina Labor Licensing and Regulatory Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, and a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience. Some clinical supervision experience is preferred but not required. Responsibilities include the clinical education and training of graduate students in the Montgomery Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic, academic teaching, and service. Preferable areas of interest include neurogenic disorders across the lifespan, voice, and augmentative communication but other areas will be considered for highly qualified applicants. The Montgomery Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic has a dynamic team of clinical educators who evaluate and treat individuals of all ages with a variety of communication disorders to include language and literacy, speech sound disorders, hearing loss, aphasia, stuttering, voice, and augmentative communication. The Department currently has 25 full-time faculty and offers two CAA -accredited speech-language pathology master’s degree pathways (on-campus and distance-learning) and a PhD program. Our clinical faculty has strong ties within the department as well as the Arnold School of Public Health.
