EICC is seeking a Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs

Under the direction of the Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs (VCAA) serves as the EICC Chief Academic Officer and provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for district educational programs, services and personnel. Areas of responsibility include Arts/Science Transfer and Career Technical Education; eLearning; Concurrent Education, Adult Education and English Language Acquisition; and College-readiness curriculum. Instructional support responsibilities include curriculum development, program review, multiple local, regional and national accreditations, transfer articulation, outcomes assessment, student success and retention measures, academic professional development and various educational administrative operations. The VCAA works collaboratively as a member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet to establish and achieve strategic goals in accordance with the EICC Mission. The VCAA is expected to serve on state-wide committees to guide strategic directions and represent the academic interests of EICC students, faculty and staff.

Qualifications will include:

  • Master’s degree required, earned doctorate preferred, as well as significant senior administrative experience, preferably in a community college setting
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in managing, planning, budgeting and implementation in teaching-learning setting.
  • The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of and strong commitment to the philosophy and goals of a comprehensive community college, participatory management style, excellent communication skills, and the ability to provide leadership in the local communities.
  • Demonstration of strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-college leadership team required.
  • Strong organizational skills required.


  • Chairs the Academic Leadership Council working with the academic deans to strategically plan and oversee the educational operations of the district including campus, concurrent, and online.
  • Provides strong, entrepreneurial leadership for program development and implementation, including research and needs assessment, planning, operation, and evaluation of instructional portfolio.
  • Leads and supports the future direction and growth of eLearning (all synchronous and asynchronous modalities) including new market development within and outside of Iowa. Oversees business relationship with ICCOC. Maintains compliance with SARA. Supports the development of a robust learning management system for all course modalities.
  • Leads and supports the strategic direction and growth of Concurrent Education including transfer/general education offerings and growth of career academies with focus on guided pathway to EICC. Maintains NACEP accreditation requirements and other remote modalities.
  • Establishes multiple guided pathways to and from EICC campus-based transfer majors and career programs that result in post-secondary credentials and job opportunities.
  • Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with Iowa Department of Education, Iowa area community colleges, regional business and industry leaders, Mississippi Bend Area Educational Authority, area K-12 partners, four-year colleges and universities, community organizations, and local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Oversees key academic governance groups including Council for Teaching Excellence; Educational Programs, Policies and Curriculum Committee; New Faculty Development Course and Mentor Program; Center for Teaching and Learning; and Center for Adjunct Faculty Engagement.
  • Supports continuous improvement through comprehensive program reviews, new program development, faculty observations and evaluation systems, and active professional development.
  • Works closely with instructional groups to open lines of communication and support faculty voice.
  • Commits to support and actively engage in diversity, equity and inclusion efforts to improve the diversification of curriculum and the employees and students we serve.
  • Supports the implementation of the faculty rank system and distinguished faculty status.
  • Coordinates the provision of instructional support services including program evaluation, institutional research and assessment, instructional design, professional development and other related services.
  • Participates in academic search committees for faculty and staff.
  • Works collaboratively with the college presidents and Cabinet members to develop, implement and monitor the goals of the strategic plan.
  • Represents EICC on the Interest Based Bargaining Team.
  • Administers the Academic Area. Administers budgets for all assigned areas. Supervises, and evaluates direct reports. Assigns leadership of instructional issues as appropriate. Collaborates with the college presidents in areas of matrix leadership.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $143,000.00 per year
