Job Description Summary:
The Anthropology Department at The George Washington University is committed to integrating humanistic and scientific perspectives while pursuing advanced research of the highest quality. The Center for the Advanced Study of Human Paleobiology at George Washington University seeks a Postdoctoral Scientist for a one-year position. The Postdoctoral Scientist is expected to bridge research topics between two or more of the different labs that make up the center (see our website for description of the different labs (https://cashp.columbian.gwu.edu/research-labs ). The Postdoctoral Scientist will work alongside faculty members of the Center in a research capacity, will participate in the training of graduate and undergraduate students, and will assist the faculty, students and department staff in managing and coordinating the activities of the center, including the weekly meetings, occasional visiting scholars, other outreach activities, and assuring the safety and security of the candidate’s workspaces. 
Duties:
* Carries out research in collaboration with 2 or more CASHP labs on topic(s) of interest in the biological, behavioral, ecological, cognitive, and/or genetic aspects of the evolution of humans and non-human primates. 
* Dissemination of research results at professional meetings and in peer-reviewed publications. 
* Assists with mentoring (tiered mentoring) of PhD, MS and BS candidates in Human Paleobiology as relevant to candidate’s research area.
* Helps to coordinate essential scholarly activities of the Center, e.g. the weekly Journal Club, lab meetings, visiting scholars, outreach and other activities, and help organize the CASHP presence on social media with student and department staff assistance. 
* Maintain the CASHP mailing list with department administrator assistance. and send emails relating to the above events and center operations.
* Assist with monitoring, supervising and maintaining safety and security in the candidate’s workspaces in collaboration with CASHP lab manager and department staff.
* Performs other work related duties as assigned.  The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.  
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Doctoral degree in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
1.) A research program involving an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the biological, behavioral, ecological, cognitive and/or genetic evolution of humans and their primate relatives.  
2.)  PhD in relevant specialty with all work completed and approved by time of appointment 
3.) Ability to bridge research topics between two or more of the labs that make up the CASHP center (see website for description of different labs)  
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience collecting and analyzing quantitative data in a way that is translatable across numerous subdisciplines. Application of novel theoretical and analytical approaches to data collection and analysis.  
Typical Hiring Range $53,840.04 - $69,333.11 How is pay for new employees determined at GW?
