JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Anthropology within the College of the Liberal Arts at The Pennsylvania State University (http://anth.la.psu.edu/ ) is seeking applications for a postdoctoral scholar to join a collaborative research project investigating the functional and evolutionary significance of postcranial skeletal variation in humans and nonhuman primates.

The ideal candidate for this position should have experience with microCT image processing and analysis as well as experience with methods used to quantify trabecular and cortical bone structure and 3D geometric morphometrics. Requirements include proficiency with Avizo, ImageJ, and Medtool software packages and Python and R programming. In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity. The anticipated start date for the position is fall of 2021. The position will last one year. Qualified candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree or have completed all of the requirements for a Ph.D. by the time of appointment. This appointment is funded for one year from date of hire with good chances of refunding; the position includes salary plus health insurance coverage.
