New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Health Behavior, Society and Policy Department within The School of Public Health.  Under the direction of Dr. Paul Duberstein, the Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct research on communication and behavioral interventions in cancer care, including, data collection and analysis, preparation of peer-reviewed scientific publications, and contributions to the writing of IRB applications.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Collects data and conducts interviews on sensitive topics with persons with cancer, their family caregivers, and oncologists.
  • Conceptualizes and implements communication and decision-making interventions.
  • Supervises research staff.
  • Analyzes data.
  • Plans and executes research projects as assigned.
  • Contributes to writing of IRB applications.
  • Contributes to the preparation of high-quality manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. Degree in Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, Anthropology, Communication Studies, Nursing, or other relevant social or health sciences. 
  • Demonstrated experience in research on serious illness

  • Strong background in quantitative or qualitative research methodology.
  • Demonstrated analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Essential ability to interact effectively and sustain relationships with investigators, colleagues and partners at multiple locations.
  • Able to work independently and in teams.
  • Excellent organization, planning, project management, and problem-solving skills. 
Preferred Qualifications
  •  Fluency in Spanish.
