The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in the broad areas of Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Quantitative Biology, and/or Data Science. We seek outstanding scientists who will enhance and complement existing strengths in our broad-based, collaborative biological sciences department. Candidates using any computational or quantitative approaches with a focus in biology are encouraged to apply. Research areas could include:

  • Developing and applying bioinformatic, quantitative genomic, and/or systems-level approaches to the study of any biological question at any level of resolution (e.g., macromolecules, cellular components, single cells, tissues, organisms, populations, or ecosystems)
  • Prediction, simulation, and/or modeling of biomolecular structures, biophysical phenomena, cellular processes, or interactions between biological entities (including species)
  • Quantitative or high-throughput biological image analysis
  • Deep learning, “big data,” and/or multi-omic/integrative methods to discover novel biological phenomena

The Department of Biological Sciences is a highly interactive community situated on the undergraduate campus of the University of Pittsburgh. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. or M.D. and will be expected to establish an extramurally funded research program, train graduate students, and participate in undergraduate science education.
