The Postdoctoral Associate will assist in cultivated meat development in the FutureFoods Lab and Cellular Agriculture Initiative at the Virginia Tech. The Postdoctoral Associate will work collaboratively with other team researchers and will supervise students as well. The position will be located in Hampton, Virginia. This is a two-year position with extension possibilities depending on the candidate's performance.
Laboratory management includes, but is not limited to, proper equipment maintenance, monitoring the inventory, budget management, and controlling the workflow in the lab. Assist in preparing manuscripts and reports, grant proposals and presentations, and developing new objectives for future experiments. Support the PI by providing adequate training and mentoring for undergraduate and graduate students.
A Doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Cell biology, Molecular Biology, and Biological Systems Engineering, or a closely related field, with PhD awarded no more than 4 years prior to the effective date of the appointment with a minimum of one year of eligibility remaining. Research experience in eukaryotic cell culture, molecular and microscopy techniques, and strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to develop manuscripts, and assist in preparation of grant proposals and presentations are required.
Experience in working on a multi-disciplinary research project with a proven track record of publications, self-motivated, and a team player. Research experience in cell line development, human or animal cell culture, stem-cell differentiation, and bioprinting are highly desirable.
