About the Department
Occupations in Computer Science and Engineering are growing at an exponential rate. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Georgia State University’s Perimeter College is committed to preparing students for careers in these critically important arenas. Student success is our chief priority. We accomplish this goal in multiple ways, from focusing on initiatives that promote access to the Computer Science and Engineering pathways to providing top-tier research and experiential learning opportunities for our students.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development and review of related undergraduate curricula, assist with program assessment activities, and maintain office hours for student advisement.
Tenure-track positions are academic year (August-May) appointments.
The selected candidate will:
Provide 27-32 semester hours of instruction per academic year.
Provide student support and advising.
Maintain an average of 8 office hours per week.
Work effectively and professionally with colleagues.
Contribute to the development and review of related undergraduate curricula.
Assist with program development activities.
Expectations also include service to the college at the department, discipline, campus, and college-wide levels. A minimum of a master’s degree required in Computer Science or a minimum of a master’s degree with at least 18 semester or 27 quarter graduate hours in relevant coursework (completed by the anticipated date of appointment) is required.
Preference will also be given to candidates who possess:
Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline.
Demonstrated knowledge of Java and Python computer-programming languages.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to teach a variety of computer science courses at the college level.
Ability and desire to teach effectively using a variety of methods.
Ability to relate to a diverse student population and facilitate student learning.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology and its use in teaching programming concepts.
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations
A Criminal Background Check is required.
Position may require non-standard hours (including day, evening, online, hybrid, weekend and/or other campus locations).
$46,350 - $61,000; salary calculation is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and education
