Job Description Summary
Full-time, tenure-track, 9-month instructor to teach Mathematics courses starting Fall 2022. Teaching load will consist of typical two-year mathematics courses, including co-requisite courses,. Candidates with interest, experience, education or training in the teaching of Introductory Statistics are especially encouraged to apply. Courses are offered in Springfield, IL at our main campus, Medical District, and CACC locations as well as online and at our Outreach Centers in Jacksonville, IL, Taylorville, IL and Litchfield, IL.
Duties will include teaching 15 contact hours per semester of assigned classes, preparing lessons and course syllabi; evaluating and assisting students; keeping accurate records of student performance (following grading procedures; providing students with timely feedback); maintaining office hours; participating in departmental/institutional operations and program review; creating a learning environment that fosters student success; developing, integrating, evaluating and reviewing student learning outcomes in support of the College’s ongoing accreditation; and contributing to a collegial and collaborative work environment.
The Math and Computer Science Department consists of a Dean, fourteen full-time faculty members and one administrative assistant. The department offers the typical spread of two-year college courses aimed at supporting transfer and general education students. Candidates should highlight their experience, education and/or interest in teaching freshman level statistics which is an important course in departmental offerings.

Full-time faculty members teach 15 credit hours for load each fall and spring semester with small class sizes and the potential to teach additional courses during the summer term. LLCC employs face-to-face, online, hybrid, and remote instructional modalities and offers courses in 16-week and 8- week formats. In addition to a competitive salary schedule, benefits include 22 paid holidays a year, including 2 weeks at the end of the calendar year and one week in March for mid-semester break; summer teaching is optional; 2 personal days; and 15 sick days. LLCC faculty, their spouse and qualified dependent children are eligible to use the tuition waiver on credited courses.

Faculty salaries are determined by education level and experience. Below are the salary ranges for each level of education. Placement within the range will be determined by experience.
Masters $45,896 – $67,903
Masters +15 $48,193 – $71,298
Masters +30 $50,602 – $74,864
Masters +45 $53,131 – $78,607
Doctorate $55,786 – $82,537
Opportunities exist for overload and summer teaching assignments.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Mathematics or closely related field with at least 18 credit hour in graduate mathematics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Computer and technical skills appropriate to support modern pedagogy
  • Prior teaching experience at the college level
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check and drug-screen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in mathematics
  • Experience teaching statistics at a community college
  • Experience in assessment of student learning outcomes
  • Formal or informal training in pedagogy for higher education
  • Experience teaching students from a wide spectrum of ages and from diverse cultural and social backgrounds
