Department: SOM KC Internal Medicine - Medical Oncology ----- Medicine Clinical Oncology Position Title: Post Doctorate Fellow Medical Oncology Job Family Group: Professional Staff Job Description Summary: Participate in the design and execution of translational research which is a critical part of planned and ongoing clinical trials, including but not limited to the development and refinement of organoid/tumoroid ex vivo models, testing and validation of novel therapeutic strategies, correlative analysis of clinical biospecimens, and identifying the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying treatment resistance, etc. Candidate will be primarily responsible to develop biochemical, molecular and cellular methods and tools, conduct relevant in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo experiments, coordinate activities necessary for clinical trials, participate in the analysis and presentation of data, and develop ongoing and new research goals. In addition, candidate is expected to have the motivation to explore/conduct other research while waiting for clinical samples and provide the support of lab research and teaching. Job Description: Required Qualifications: A Master’s degree in the biological sciences or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience demonstrating progressive responsibility. 3-5+ years of experience in biomedical research, preferably lung cancer research or translational cancer research. Extensive experience with biochemical, molecular and cellular biology techniques, including but not limited to: primary cell culture, organoids/tumoroids generation, organotypic tumor culture, generation of isogenic cell lines (e.g. over-expression, knock down/out, CRISPR knock in/out, conditionally-activatable, etc.), generation of reporter system for high throughput drug screening, generation of patient-derived xenograft (PDX) mouse models, flow cytometry, RNA sequencing and microbiome analysis, etc.

Independently and in collaboration with the PI, postdoctoral and visiting scholars, graduate students and undergraduate students design and execute in vitro , ex vivo and in vivo studies that are relevant to corresponding planned and ongoing clinical trials. The candidate is also expected to have the motivation to explore/conduct other research while waiting for clinical samples and provide the support of lab research and teaching. Critically evaluate current literature and adapt evolving understanding of cancer biology, immunology and relevant technology to the objectives described above. Coordinate and execute the shipment of various biological reagents (antibodies, cells and cDNAs) as well as animal models to collaborating laboratories worldwide; relay salient technical information regarding creation or usage of these reagents and animals. Organize and present laboratory data at internal and external scientific meetings. Prepare data for publications and assist in the preparation of extramural grant proposals. Participate in the development of general goals for the research project and in the planning of the laboratory work plan, as well as involved in lab teachings.
