Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey
The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Appointee position is to conduct research investigation into the pathophysiology of chemotherapy-induced cognitive dysfunction under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. Performs research, experiments, and laboratory techniques of a specialized nature under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator. Drafts written reports for inclusion in manuscripts and grant proposals.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Conducts research experiments to understand the pathophysiology responsible for chemotherapy-induced cognitive
dysfunction. Our NCI-funded laboratory uses an animal model to probe the pathophysiology responsible for chemotherapy-induced cognitive deficits. In the past we have successfully identified targetable pathways, that can be interrupted pharmacologically to protect against chemotherapy-induced neurotoxicity.
- The laboratory PI, Peter Cole, will provide the postdoctoral fellow with instruction in techniques specific to our laboratory, as
well as ongoing mentoring for the fellow’s career development and advancement. However, the postdoctoral fellow will generally be expected to function autonomously, assuming primary responsibility for the development of his or her research and career.
- Prepares written reports of the research experiments.
- Prepares grant proposals based on the research conducted.
- Gives oral presentations of the research.
