The Assistant Scientist provides technical support by performing scientific experiments within a research lab. Independently handles experiments or small research projects requiring advanced knowledge and experience in a specific scientific area or discipline. Maintains records of data, and may be involved in training graduate and medical students in research methods and procedures
Responsibilities include: animal surgery model for chronic kidney disease (CKD); post-surgery and during surgery care of the animals; executing experimental protocols; maintaining records on all experiments; and maintaining equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Ph.D. and at least four years of Postdoctoral experience, with 2-3 years of animal surgery experience.
Required Skills & Abilities:
*Proficiency in animal surgery models for CKD
*Demonstrated ability to work independently
*Demonstrated proficiency in post-op care of animal subjects
*Ability to instruct colleagues on experimental procedures
