Position Summary |
The Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience at the University of Nebraska Medical Center is seeking applicants for the position of postdoctoral research associate. Candidate should have prior experience in the neuroimmunology of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Prior expertise in T cells and their roles in affecting microglial neurotoxic reactions is preferred. Research will seek the discovery of pathways of both pathogenic and protective roles of effector and regulatory CD4+ T cells (Teff and Treg) in the pathobiology of AD. Based on these prior works the chosen candidate will perform research aimed at harnessing CD4+ T cells to restore CNS homeostasis in AD through control of Treg immunity. The proposed work will include studies which assess Treg function in AD pathobiology through Treg depletion and reconstitution. Consequences of such immune modulations will be studied on pathological protein deposition and neuroinflammatory responses. Expertise in performance of western blot, ELISA, immunohistochemistry and microglial singe cell RNA sequencing is desired. Work will include engineering of Tregs by synthesizing Aβ-specific T cell receptor mRNA (Aβ-TCR-mRNA) then encapsulation it into lipid nanoparticles. Clinical relevance of this research will be made by the candidate in a recently generated humanized APP knock-in mice. CAR-Treg functional immune and neuroprotective responses will be determined.
