Job Summary

Provides technical and supervisory skills in planning, organizing and directing the care and maintenance of college grounds including responsibilities for and general beautification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules, assigns and supervises the landscaping, seeding, weeding, cultivating and general care of grounds

• Plans and supervises cultivation, pruning, spraying, watering and transplanting of a large variety of shrubs and trees

• Prepares working sketches for the development, improvement or expansion of landscaped areas

• Distributes materials and equipment for grounds maintenance work

• Applies and supervises the application of pesticides and other grounds related chemicals

• Interviews and recommends suitable applicants for employment

• Prepares periodic reports of work

• Develops and maintains an efficient and workable landscaping program plus pesticide and chemical records

• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite

• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)

• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

• Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Applicators License-Lawn and Ornamental, or ability to obtain prior to hire

• Two (2) years grounds keeping experience

• One (1) year supervisory experience

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal

• Experience working with computerized systems

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Experience operating a forklift
